Do you write resumes from scratch?Yes, we can write resumes from scratch as long as you provide the work history with job duties, skills, and education needed to craft it.

When I submit my resume and/or cover letter, do you care what format?We prefer Word, but PDF is also ok as long as there is text and not graphics.

What is the difference between a review and an edit?The terms "review" and "edit" are often used interchangeably, but they actually refer to different stages in the revision process. Here’s a breakdown of the differences: Review A review typically involves evaluating and assessing a document's content, structure, and overall effectiveness. The purpose of a review is to: Identify strengths and weaknesses in the content. Highlight areas where the document can be improved, such as clarity, coherence, tone, or style. Assess if the content is meeting its intended goals and is suitable for the target audience. In a resume context, a review might involve examining whether: The resume uses strong action verbs. Accomplishments are clearly highlighted. The formatting is clean and professional. There are any sections or details missing, such as skills or education. Edit An edit, on the other hand, involves making actual changes to the content based on the feedback from the review. Editing focuses on: Correcting grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors. Refining language, word choice, and sentence structure. Enhancing clarity and readability. Ensuring consistency in style and format. Fact-checking and verifying accuracy where necessary. For a resume, an edit would involve: Rewriting bullet points to include specific action verbs. Quantifying accomplishments to strengthen the impact. Reorganizing sections for better readability. Fixing any grammar or spelling errors. In short, we combine both the review as an analysis that identifies what could be improved, while editing to implement those improvements.

Is this a collaborative process?No, this is not a live/collaborative process. There are no phone calls or video chats. When requesting a review, the process is complete when the review is sent back to you and the product is final. When requesting an edit, the process is complete when the resume or cover letter is sent back to you and the product is final. If more information is needed for the resume, i.e., computer skills, expansion of skill/duty bullet points, quantification of successes, etc., that information will have to be provided by the individual at the time of purchase when the resume is submitted. If, when reviewing the documents, our consultant determines more information is needed, we will request it.

Regarding the editing, are there multiple drafts or revisions?There are no multiple drafts or revisions, as the finished product is our opinion of what a successful resume would look like for you. The work is based on Joel's experience and observations.
